About

Three Generations of Excellence

Hutchinson High School - Hutchinson, MN

Our History

Our story has a humble beginning. In 1950, Willard Gohman operated a handcrafted cabinet business from his shed. His carpentry skills impressed the community, and his operation quickly grew to remodeling and building residential homes in central Minnesota. From there, he transitioned to become a general contractor, focusing on commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.

This work laid the foundation for what is now W. Gohman Construction Company.

Willard’s son, Bruce, joined the company in the 1960s. He took over the family business twenty years later and added construction management and design/build to the list of W. Gohman’s services.

In the mid-1990s, the company entered residential construction again. This time creating a sister company, Creative Custom Builders. In 2006, Bruce’s son, Michael Gohman, became the third-generation president of W. Gohman Construction. Michael established (acquired) Artistic Stone & Concrete to perform historic renovation and Ideal Concrete Construction to expand on its concrete projects int he Brainerd Lakes area and continues to expand the company throughout the Midwest. He runs his family’s heritage business with the same integrity that his father and grandfather did before him.

Today, W. Gohman Construction is evolving into key-role employee ownership. This transition not only preserves our legacy of craftsmanship, innovation, and community commitment but also empowers our employees to lead with purpose and shape the company’s future.

Our Philosophy

Integrity and excellence are the cornerstone of our business. We seek projects that match our capabilities and allow us to utilize the skills and talents of our steadfast workforce. We empower our clients to make informed decisions by offering expert guidance at every phase of the project. Backed by more than 74 years in the industry and three generations of family leadership, we know that collaboration, honesty, and transparency are the keys to achieving any goal.
